Could your financial expertise help shape the future of one of Reading’s long-established charities?

Reading Almshouse Charity is looking for a new Treasurer to join its Board of Trustees and provide financial insight and oversight as the organisation looks towards its next chapter.

Providing affordable homes and supportive communities across Reading and Earley, the charity currently supports over 100 residents across three sites. With ambitions for future development, strong financial governance will be an important part of ensuring those plans are both sustainable and achievable.

Working collaboratively with fellow Trustees and the charity’s management team, you’ll help the Board understand its financial position, provide appropriate scrutiny and contribute to strategic financial decision-making.

We’re looking for someone with strong financial expertise who can communicate financial information clearly to colleagues from different professional backgrounds. You’ll be comfortable asking constructive questions, looking beyond the numbers and helping the Board understand the financial implications of its decisions.

Previous charity Treasurer experience would be welcomed, but isn’t essential. What matters is having the appropriate financial knowledge, an understanding of good governance and a genuine enthusiasm for using your skills to support the local community.

This is an opportunity to bring your professional expertise into the Boardroom while contributing to an organisation that has been supporting people in Reading for generations.

The commitment includes four Board meetings each year, alongside relevant committee involvement and preparation time. Meetings take place during the daytime in Reading.

Location: Reading, Berkshire
Remuneration: Voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed
