Operations Manager – Maternity Cover (13-Month FTC)
Reading (on-site)  £25/hour (approx. £32.5k for 25 hrs/wk)  25 hours/week (must include Mondays & Fridays)  13-month fixed-term contract

A fantastic opportunity to join a small, values-led housing charity supporting vulnerable people in the local area.

We’re looking for a confident, proactive Operations Manager to take the reins during a maternity cover. You’ll lead a small team, oversee property and resident management, ensure compliance and contracts are in place, and be the go-to person internally and externally while the CEO is on leave.

This role would suit someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership, and wants to make a tangible impact in a meaningful organisation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead day-to-day housing operations and maintenance
  • Manage and support a small staff team
  • Oversee contracts, compliance, and safeguarding
  • Be the main point of contact for residents and professionals
  • Monitor budgets and approve payments
  • Ensure smooth handover and continuity during maternity leave

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in operational or service delivery roles
  • Calm, organised, and great with people
  • Comfortable juggling priorities and leading teams
  • Housing or charity experience is a bonus, but not essential
  • Confident being the most senior staff member in post

The practical bits:

  • £25/hour (approx. £32,500 for 25 hrs/week)
  • 25 hours/week – flexibility offered, but must cover Mondays and Fridays
  • Based in Reading – on-site working required
  • Start date: Early December, with handover in place
  • 13-month fixed-term contract
